Trauma Response
Trauma Response or Critical Incident Stress Defusing is a process designed to provide a safe and confidential environment for groups of individuals or individual sessions for those who have been impacted by a traumatic event.
It is important that people have an opportunity to voice their feelings, seek reassurance that these are normal feelings and reactions, and obtain strategies to slowly normalize and heal.
These sessions are facilitated by a trained professional and participants are also advised that confidential one on one support is also available at any time, should they wish to utilize this.
Trauma Response or Defusing provides opportunities for:
- Personal reactions and feelings – being able to be yourself and talk about deeper concerns and fears
- Sharing your experiences and concerns with your colleagues that may bring you closer together as a team
- Obtaining feedback and guidance in relation to moving forward
- Letting off steam, expressing frustration, anger and discouragement and obtaining support
- Acknowledging and keeping in touch with your feelings to ensure that you are in control of your stress outlets
